Interactions chronicles four high school students as they are given four days to tackle one mission: to find out what life was like for teenagers in camps during World War II. Equipped with a phone and a computer, we follow Kiet, Christina, Miguel and Lluvia on a surprisingly emotional journey as they talk to former camp inmates, explore the ruins of an actual camp, and ask themselves, “What would I have done?” and “Could this happen to me?”

Eighteen American soldiers of Asian descent speak out about their experiences in three wars. Breaking a legacy of silence, they share laughter along with gut-wrenching experiences, such as that of Vietnam War Captain David Miyoshi, who was placed on a podium in front of his fellow soldiers and called a gook. The lesson was: “This is what the enemy looks like. Kill it before it kills you.”

Though stripped of their possessions, their dignity and their freedom, Japanese Americans forcibly sent to relocation camps during World War II remained strong and hopeful in the face of adversity. Using home movies, many shot by internee Dave Tatsuro, we get a graphic understanding of Mr. Tatsuro's words from his 1942 diary, "I hope when you look at these you see the spirit of the people."
