The Story of DIRECT ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION
The film demonstrates the basic steps in mouth-to-mouth breathing. It shows when and where the method should be applied, who can learn, and how it is best performed.
A laboratory sequence shows the comparative effectiveness of various indirect (manual) methods and, by the use of models and live volunteers, illustrates why mouth-to-mouth breathing is the most effective method. The application of mouth-to-mouth is then shown in a series of re-enactments of common emergency situations where prompt resuscitation is crucial to saving a life.
The instruction is seen through the eyes of a reported in search of a story, and ends with a dramatic scene in which he is able to recall what the has learned to save a girl’s life at the County Fair.
